We are a village band; we play for our own enjoyment and that of our listeners. We have no ambition or pretensions to be anything else; no contesting for instance, although we would not mind being a bigger and better village band. We are always ready to extend a welcome to new players of all ages and experience.
We have players of 8 and players of 80. Some have had lessons; some have not. Some have played all their lives; others have taken up playing in their thirties and forties; some learned when young and after not playing for 12, 15 or even 20 years have then come and joined us.
All make a welcome and valuable contribution to the Band.
We have a few spare instruments, which are available to anyone who would like to join us for a very reasonable amount. Subscriptions to the Band are only £12 per quarter (half that for juniors), or £18 for family membership, allowing one adult and up to three children to become members. We currently have three cornets, a baritone, a trombone and three basses spare.
We have a varied programme of engagements during the course of the year, and are always happy to consider further requests.
The Band practises every Monday of the year, except for Easter Monday, in Snailbeach Village Hall from 7.45 pm until 9.45 pm, with a short break for refreshments.
Training Band, for beginners and anyone else who wants to help them, or just to warm up thoroughly, is on term-time Mondays only, starting at 7.10 pm, followed by Main Band.
Doors are open at 7.00 pm.
